A recent trip to the grocery store surprised me with a huge display of boxed Amaryllis bulbs shipped directly from Holland at the entrance to the store. These colorful boxes of bulbs promised white, red, pink or bicolor blooms by Christmas time.

Battlefords RCMP are inviting members of the public to town hall meetings in Meota and Cochin. The Meota meeting is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Meota Community Centre. Cochin rink hall will host the other meeting at 7 p.m.

It was a fruitful southeast road swing this past weekend for the Battlefords North Stars. A wild 6-4 loss to Estevan Friday was followed up by a couple of 3-2 wins over Weyburn and then Notre Dame the next two days.

The 3A football playoffs have come to an end for the John Paul II Crusaders. The Crusaders lost to Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks 23-15 Saturday afternoon in the nine-man 3A semifinals at Crusader Field in North Battleford.

EDAM — The 28th annual Edam Fall Fair is in the books. The event started on Friday evening Oct. 26, with Class 9 People’s Choice Cow/Calf pair.

A former Unity resident has earned the Governor General’s Medal for Bravery. Cole Marshall, son of Steve Marshall and Victoria Leibel, was born in 1986 and was a student at Unity Composite High Schoo. He, now lives in Medicine Hat, Alta.

UNITY — Unity Minor Ball was awarded the first ever Sask. Baseball Minor Ball Club of the Year Award at Sask. Baseball’s annual meeting and awards ceremony held Oct. 20 in Saskatoon.
