Council notes

Wendy Roche was unsure what to do after the course she taught for nine years at North West College was discontinued. After taking some time to think about what she could do, Roche decided to start her own business.

Unions representing a number of public employees were vocal about the 2018-19 provincial budget released earlier this month. Many comments from unions about the 2017-18 budget concerned last year’s cuts.

The 2018 Battlefords area music festival came to a celebratory close Wednesday at the Dekker Centre.

John Bajak of North Battleford is the winner of the $1,000 Early Bird prize in Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation’s 2018-19 Monthly Lottery. It was Bajak’s first time purchasing Monthly Lottery tickets with BUH Foundation.

Speers dinner theatre performances April 13, 14, 15 played to sellout crowds, serving 150 people per performance.

Budget reaction

A warning has been issued by the City of North Battleford about high current flows on the North Saskatchewan River with the ice starting to break up. The concern is that the flows combined with ice breakup may cause flooding in low-lying areas.

Battlefords RCMP are reporting a trailer theft incident involving communities north of the city.
