The 2015-16 season was a memorable one for the Saskatchewan Huskies men’s hockey program, as they won their 15th Canada West conference championship and their first title in four years.

There will be a partial street closure on Territorial Dr. from Clements Dr. to Sadlowski Dr. from Tuesday, Oct. 19 until Saturday, Oct. 22. The closure, which will last from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, is to allow contractors to make the shoulder wider.

The NDP critics for health, social services and education were in North Battleford Friday for a town hall meeting on the state of health care in the province before the government releases its latest budget.

As part of Saskatchewan’s expanding Take-Home Naloxone Program, THN kits will be available in North Battleford, starting Thursday.

An attempt is being made to bring back a safe environment for kids to be able to enjoy Halloween on Oct. 31. A “safe-walk” block party is being planned for 107th and 108th Streets between 8th and 10th Avenue. It is to run between 4 and 7 p.m.

The Northwest region of Saskatchewan was well represented with awards presented Monday by Lt.-Gov. Vaughn Solomon Schofield. She presented Royal Canadian Humane Association Bravery Awards to Cst. Daniel Dempster and Cst.

It’s either an exciting or a boring municipal election year, depending on where you live. A few communities in the Northwest region of Saskatchewan are seeing competitive races for mayor and council. Others aren’t seeing much of a contest at all.
