Dear Editor Feb. 10, North Battleford hosted the selection committee for the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games. The stakes were high.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region is in need of caring, compassionate and committed volunteers to fill the following service positions: Activity Programs – Evergreen Health Centre, Leoville 306-984-2136.

A fundraising event is coming next month to help immigrants settling in the Battlefords area. Living Skies Refuge is hosting a Funfair Fundraiser on March 12 at the NationsWEST Field House. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The next hearing date of the Saskatchewan Review Board into Layne Larose has been scheduled for May 6. The hearing date comes on the heels of a Jan. 15 hearing into Larose and its subsequent decision, obtained by the News-Optimist this week.

In an announcement made Saturday, the city of North Battleford will host an event from the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling next year.

The Borden Friendship Club held a Valentine’s tea for Telemiracle on Feb. 11, with 44 dropping in to enjoy strawberry shortcake. Collected at the door and going to Telemiracle will be $210. The bake table proceeds went to the club.
