At a concert celebrating the 65 th anniversary of the North Battleford City Kinsmen Band, the daughter of the founding bandmaster said her father had left”a wonderful legacy” and she hoped the band would enjoy many more anniversaries.

North Battleford RCMP responded to over 100 calls for service between 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 and 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15. Over that time period, RCMP also made 21 arrests relating to alcohol offences.

“North Battleford has had a band of its own since pioneer days, but it took the late Robbie Robinson to turn the band into a youth organization and set the foundation for it to become known all across Canada.

Dear Editor "To every thing there is a season." A mayor of a certain town wants the residents to keep their electric decorative lights on past the Christmas season until spring to combat what he calls the dreariness of winter.

I guess it doesn’t achieve much to lament the commercial / economic hi-jacking of this season upon us.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks (7-9-1-0) scored five power play goals in two games to sweep the Melville Fox FM Prairie Fire (3-12-0-3) 3-1, and 3-2 over the weekend.

The Battlefords Stars (17-7-0-0) picked up wins over the Tisdale Trojans (18-3-0-2) and Moose Jaw Generals (9-13-0-4) this week.

The Battlefords North Stars (17-9-6-0) had a win and an overtime loss over the weekend, but deserved two wins. Friday, the Yorkton Terriers (11-16-1-2) came to the Civic Centre, and walked away with two points after a 3-2 overtime win.

Meota Combines (3-2-0-0) captain Tyson Knight had three goals and two assists to lead his team to an 8-4 win over the Glaslyn North Stars (0-3-0-0) Saturday.
