The North Battleford Beavers had the chance to finish their first round North Saskatchewan River Baseball League playoff series against the Lloydminster Juniors Thursday night, but a late collapse cost them the game.

HOWDLE: In loving memory of Margaret Bernice Howdle (nee Sidebottom) born September 22, 1931 on the Sidebottom Farm to George & Ada Sidebottom. Bernice passed away on July 5th, 2013 in Unity, Saskatchewan, at the age of 81.

A number of bylaws passed in three readings unanimously at the July 22 council meeting in North Battleford. The first bylaw to pass was the amendments to the Maintenance and Occupancy of Property and Nuisance Abatement Bylaw.

We are well into summer now (how time flies!), and there is all sorts of excitement here in libraryland. We are of course participating in the TD Summer Reading Club (http://tdsummerreadingclub.ca/).

Nine members of the Battlefords Art Club met Tuesday at our usual space in the Don Ross Centre. Everyone was busy at a project. One was painting a horse head, one was doing a painting of the Leipzig Serenity Retreat Centre.

North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services reports there was a motor vehicle accident with minor injuries Tuesday shortly before 2 p.m. The incident happened at the Frontier Mall parking lot in front of the Shoppers Drug Mart.

Bruce Dalshaug was born on April 6, 1936 to Palmer J. Dalshaug and Lilian R. Dalshaug (nee Cooper) at Margo. Bruce came into this world in his grandmother's house with a midwife in attendance.
