The 90th annual Men's Open Bonspiel held in North Battleford March 21 to 24 attracted 28 rinks with the top prize going to a local rink skipped by Barry Massett.

The 82nd local Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival season came to a celebratory close with an enchanting Dance Connection musical theatre performance showcasing beloved Mary Poppins songs at the gala and awards ceremony held the evening of March 22nd

The Mervin 4-H Beef Club held thier speech night on Feb. 11 at the Turtleford school. Jim and Nancy Range served as judges. Jayden Bannnerman was placed first in the juniors.

Congratulations to Leah (Cheesbough) Nabis who completed classes at Lakeland College on March 20 as an LPN. She has consistently received high marks so was on the Dean's honour list. She will be doing her practicum in Medicine Hat.

Blaine Lake Library hosted its second annual Valentine's extravaganza Feb. 15 at the Blaine Lake Seniors' Centre.

Maidstone RCMP say sometime between Feb. 21 and 26 a lease site in the RM of Britannia was entered and perpetrators unravelled a large roll of cableand fled withapproximately $15,000.00 worth of copper cable.

Good fortune found Nolin Baptiste during a break. With some downtime at work, the Cando resident decided to scratch his lottery tickets. He won $20,000. Nolin bought the tickets at Frog Lake General Store while stopped in Frog Lake, Alta.

The Saskatchewan 4-H northwest regional public speaking competitions were held in Blaine Lake March 23. District 29, consisting of Borden Light Horse, Crown Hill Beef and Sask Valley Dairy clubs, hosted the event.

The Grade 4 -6 students from Marsden Jubilee School had a great time on their ski trip to Table Mountain Feb. 9. The day started with an early bus ride to the hill, followed by group ski lessons.
