A vehicle fire in Battleford early Friday, July 30 is being investigated by the RCMP. "We have deemed the fire suspicious," says Fire Chief Larry Gabruch. The call came in at 5 a.m.

After three games at the Western Canadian Junior B Women's Softball Championships in Winnipeg, the Northwest Vipers are 3-0. After winning their first one 8-5 Thursday, they went on to win 9-4 over the Hamiota Hurricanes of Manitoba.

As a lifelong football player (four year veteran of the 90 pounds and under league) I had a good grip on the game at an early age and have spent more time in the end zone than on the sidelines.

Wednesday marked the start of both semi finals series in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League. The first place Lloydminster Meridian Twins took on the fourth place Meadow Lake White Sox in Lloydminster.

WPD ambulance received a call just after midnight for a two vehicle collision on Highway 16 west bound at the Westwood Cemetery July 29. Five patients were transported to Battlefords Union Hospital.
