The good news for town of Battleford residents is there’s no increase in the municipal portion of property taxes. The bad news is the education portion of property tax is going up.

A new tax of 20 per cent on the retail price of all vapour liquids, products and devices will take effect in Saskatchewan on Sept. 1. Legislation to implement the new Vapour Products Tax (VPT) was introduced in the legislature this week.

Owners of electric passenger vehicles registered in Saskatchewan will begin paying an annual road-use fee of $150, effective Oct. 1. The necessary amendments to The Fuel Tax Act, 2000 were introduced in the legislature this week.

Insp. Tom Beck is leaving as Officer in Charge of Battlefords RCMP detachment. He is leaving for a new posting in Whitehorse, the Yukon. Staff-Sgt. Jason Teniuk will take over his role as Officer in Charge.
