PAYNTON — A new update has been released by Cenovus Energy on July 17 regarding the Rush Lake 2 facility.
In their announcement, the company said they are continuing to work to resolve the well release, which has resulted in a reduction of the vapour cloud on site.
“We are closely monitoring the work that has been done to date, and activity is ongoing. We will update the public once our well control program is completed and confirm it’s resolved.
“We continue to communicate with the community members affected since this began and sincerely apologize for the impact it has had on the communities.”
The well release was first reported on May 7 and Cenovus Energy recently held an open house for residents to learn more about what has happened and how the company is getting the situation under control.
