Eugene (Gene) was born on May 1, 1932 at Meacham to Joseph and Joanna (nee Burtney) Kinar. When he was young, the family moved to Spiritwood, where he would grow up and obtain his education. Following his schooling, Gene moved to BC where he worked in the logging industry for a number of years. Gene loved working with wood and building things. Eventually, he returned to the Spiritwood area to farm. He worked in the construction trade, which brought him to the Humboldt area. Gene settled in Carmel and loving the farming lifestyle, enjoyed working for various farmers in the area. About 10 years ago, he moved to Humboldt where he has resided until the present. Even while living in town, he made almost daily trips to his son Kevin's farm, to help with whatever he could. He was a farmer at heart and loved being at the farm. He also enjoyed cooking, listening to Johnny Cash and fishing. Gene's life revolved around his family. His grandchildren brought him much joy and he loved spending time with them.
