The unexpected death of Rodney Alfred Korte of Humboldt occurred at his residence on October 31, 2011. He was 40 years of age. Rodney was born July 21, 1971 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt. He grew up in Humboldt and attended St. Dominic School, St. Augustine School and Humboldt Collegiate. After graduating, Rodney moved to Vancouver, B.C. where he lived and worked for four years. He then moved to Calgary where he was employed by Pro Fit Industries. While in Calgary, Rodney became ill and due to his illness returned to Humboldt. He loved music, especially playing his electric guitar. He also had a talent for art, and was very good at sketching and painting with water colors. He enjoyed camping and fishing in B.C. whenever he had the chance, especially on Vancouver Island. Rodney was a quiet, unassuming person who kept much to himself. Rodney will be lovingly remembered by his dad, Don Korte and his stepmother Marilyn Korte of Humboldt; his two brothers: Russ Korte and his children, Justin and Rachelle of Saskatoon, and Dave Korte of Lloydminster, Alberta; three step sisters: Michelle, Shauna and Lafern all of B.C. Rodney was predeceased by his mother Marie Ann in March 1980, paternal grandparents: Ben and Hildegard(nee Muyres) Korte, and maternal grandparents Joe and Katherine (nee Voellmecke) Vogelsang. The Funeral Mass for Rodney was offered on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Father Emile April. Others taking part were: Rachelle Korte, crossbearer; Hugo Korte and Joyce McGrath scripture readers; Joyce McGrath, intentions; Harold Korte and Christine Korte, gift bearers; Justin Korte, urn bearer. Honorary pallbearers were considered, "All those who knew Rodney and shared in his life." Memorial donations may be directed to St. Augustine Parish Building Fund. SCHULER - LEFEBVRE, Humboldt, SK.
