Veronica BergermannJune 10, 1919 - October 4, 2011The death of Mrs. Veronica Cecilia Bergermann (nee Schermann) occurred peacefully at her residence, St Mary's Villa, on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. She was 92 years of age and the last member of her generation. Veronica was born in Winsted, Minnesota, on June 10, 1919, to Frank and Mary (nee Millerbernd) Schermann. Her education began at Holy Trinity Grade School and she completed her grade 12 at Holy Trinity High School. Working on the family farm kept Veronica busy after completing her education. She met William Bergermann while he was visiting relatives in Minnesota. The result of this meeting led to courtship and the acceptance of a marriage proposal. On May 30, 1941, the future bride arrived in Canada. Veronica and Bill were married at St. Peter's Cathedral in Muenster on June 10, 1941. Together they made their home in Muenster where six children were born to them. With Bill's death on October 22, 1992, Veronica made Wolverine Heights in Muenster her new home. Eventually in need of extra help, she moved to the farm to live with Janice and Ron in October of 2001. A final move to St Mary's Villa occurred in 2009. Veronica worked hard as a wife and mother and enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening and in her spare time she read, listened to music and did ceramics. Throughout her life Veronica had a strong faith. She placed her trust in the Lord when she left her family in Minnesota and began her new life in Canada. In Muenster she was active in St. Peter's Parish. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and served as their secretary. Eventually she served as president, vice-president, and councillor for the CWL for many terms and took part in all of their activities including raffles, bake sales, and socials. Veronica's life centered around her relationship with community, church, and family and was anchored by her strong faith in God. "Well done my good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).
