Bjorkdale News: U9s compete in first tournament

The U9 Bjorkdale Bruins competed in their first tournament on Jan. 28 in Porcupine Plain. BJORKDALE — The Under 9 Bjorkdale Bruins played in their first tournament on Saturday Jan. 28 in Porcupine Plain.

The kids played hard and placed second in the C final. Everyone was awarded medals. They also presented MVP awards to Emberley Bartsch, Cache Schapansky and Ryan Bratton and Karsen Babcock. Giulianna Vecchio and Brynn Goldsworthy were awarded the Hustler of the games.

Natalie Dzurka of Bjorkdale plays for the Porcupine Plain Blues and the Blues went on to win their home tournament.

The Tisdale Trojans are planning to come practice in Bjorkdale on Feb. 1, 8 and 15th from 4:15 – 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome to come watch. On Wednesday, Feb. 15, Bjorkdale will host a “Skate with the Trojans” day and invite any child or parent to go skating with the Trojans. A fun hockey game will be played with whoever wants to join. The booth will be open that day as well.

The Village of Bjorkdale joined the #1000MilesofSnow Initiative through the Community Futures Newsask. This initiative is connecting the snowmobile trails from Porcupine Plain to Tisdale.
