HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt and District Museum will host its annual Water Tower Carnival this August long weekend.
“If you can’t make it to the water this August long weekend, let the Humboldt Water Tower Committee bring the water to you,” said Rachel Wormsbecher, museum supervisor.
The third annual Water Tower Carnival will take place at the water tower on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will feature water-themed carnival games, including a fish pond, a water gun zip line and a rain gutter regatta race.
Wormsbecher said, “This fun family event will also feature a puzzling treasure hunt, a visit from the Humboldt fire trucks, and two guests from the Saskatoon Juggling Club — Kati, a roving circus performer, and Dale, who will be running a circus workshop for all ages.”
All carnival events are free, but standard tour rates will apply for those who want to visit the top of the tower.
A little-known fact: the Humboldt water tower was built in 1915 and is one of only four such structures remaining in Saskatchewan — and the only one open to the public. Building tours are available, and those wishing to climb to the top pay standard tour rates.
