Logging operations begin in Pasquia-Porcupine Forest

Weyerhaeuser has started hauling in the Pasquia–Porcupine Forest. Drivers are urged to watch for log trucks and equipment on highways and bush roads.

HUDSON BAY — Weyerhaeuser Timberlands are notifying the public of ongoing logging operations in the Pasquia-Porcupine Forest. 

In a recent public notice, the company stated: “Operations are ramping up, and hauling will begin Monday, July 14. Watch for log trucks and slow-moving equipment. When approaching intersections, be aware that most loaded log trucks are restricted to a maximum speed of 90 km/h on highways. Use caution when approaching from behind and remain alert to limited sightlines on bush roads.” 

As of July 14, Weyerhaeuser log trucks and equipment may be active on the following road systems: 

  • White’s Ranch Road (Highway 983) 

  • Somme Tower Road (Highway 984) 

  • Highway 3 west of Hudson Bay 

  • Highway 23 

  • Highway 9 south of Hudson Bay 

  • Rural Municipality of Hudson Bay grids in the Clemenceau area 

Forest access roads include: 

  • Chuck Soules Road 

  • Big Valley West Road 

  • Wells Creek Road 

  • Piwei Lake Road system 

  • Wagon Lake Road 

  • Wolfhide Road system 

  • Shenigan Lake Road 

  • Mary’s Diner Road

  • Little Swan Road
