A target date for the start of Step 2 on the province’s reopening roadmap has been set: Sunday, June 20.

Skywatchers, rejoice! A brilliant "supermoon" will dazzle Humboldt skies on Thursday, May 26 for hours before the illuminated celestial body goes mostly dark for several minutes.

NIPAWIN — The Nipawin fair has been cancelled, but the Nipawin Exhibition Association is still hopeful that they will be able to hold some kind of event this fall.

For the second day in a row, the Kelvington-Punnichy area (Central East 2) saw a large increase in cases. On May 21, there were 16 new cases reported by the provincial government. The day before, there were 10.

To get as many people vaccinated against COVID-19 as possible, the opposition New Democrats are calling for a strategy that includes reaching out to those who haven’t gotten a first dose.

EAST CENTRAL — The North East School Division (NESD) is removing online classrooms from the division for the 2021-22 school year, requiring all students to attend in person unless actively sick or enrolled in a homeschool program.

LANIGAN — COVID-19 diagnoses have been made at Lanigan Elementary School. The Horizon School Division said they were informed of the diagnoses May 20.

TISDALE, NIPAWIN — After success in east central Saskatchewan, Daven Smith’s hockey journey is taking him south.

EAST CENTRAL — Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the East Central region, including Humboldt, Tisdale, Melfort and Nipawin. In an alert issued at 3:36 p.m.

A walk-in vaccination clinic will be opening up in Lanigan tomorrow for those eligible. The Lanigan clinic will be at the town hall on Friday, May 21 from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
