Over 70 second, third and fourth generation descendants (aged three weeks to over 70) of Christian and Carrie Pederson, who farmed in the Thistledale district east of Borden from 1933 to the 1950s, gathered for a reunion over the Labour Day weekend a

August brought to a close another fantastic year for the 2nd North Battleford Scouting Group. "It was an incredible year," states Lana Abrahamson, who's been with the group for 13 years.

A long-time journalist returned to North Battleford recently with news that she has signed a book deal. Earlier this year Elinor Florence signed a contract with Dundurn Press of Toronto for her book, Bird's Eye View.

The reunions for the Class of '58 are getting closer and closer together. "That's because we're getting older!" say organizers Sharon Bradburn and Don Backus who got together with fellow graduates of North Battleford Collegiate Institute this summer.

HMR Sport Horse Club hosted a dressage clinic at Hidden Meadows Ranch near North Battleford Aug 3 and 4 D.J. Cairns from Grayson was the instructor.

Regina born Colin James has come a long way since his self- titled debut album in 1988. Since that time he has amassed numerous awards and a string of hits that has propelled James to icon status category in Canada.

Jules J. Hamelin was born in 1883 to Olivier and Eleanore (Martin) at St. Polycarpe, Que., which was located 40 miles southwest of Montreal. He and his four brothers and three sisters grew up on a 100-acre farm.

The community is swinging into the fall season with a variety of events. Starting with something for the youngsters, there is a Kids' Lego Club Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the North Battleford Library from 4 to 5 p.m. It's for kids aged six to 12.

Winners have been selected in the fourth annual Best of the Battlefords photo contest.

A fundraiser that ran for the month of August at the Super A in Battleford has resulted in a $2,204.12 cheque toward a new building for the Battlefords Trade and Education Centre.
