An event that has grown in popularity since 2008 has a new time frame this year. In past years, A Taste of Culture has been held at the same time as Agri-Mex, the Battlefords Agricultural Society's annual spring trade show.

On behalf of Radisson Order of the Royal Purple Lodge, Roberta Harris and Lorraine Olinyk visited Maymont Central School March 26 to hand out prize money, certificates and Smarties to students in Grades 1 - 6 who had entered the Sask Elks Foundation

Jody and Rayelle Kissick of Marwayne, Alta. visited grandma Dorothy Kissick. Colleen Koski is now feeling much better and able to be out and around. Our sympathy to the Danychuk family on the passing of George Danychuk.

Easter has hopped in and out. Hope everyone had safe travels and lots of fun family memories to cherish. Now if this elusive spring would ever arrive . So far the melting has taken place slowly.

Norman Carter's Scholastic Book Fair wrapped up March 26. The original schedule for the book fair was Wednesday, March 20 - Friday, March 22 however, with the atrocious weather that blasted our region, it was extended to the following Tuesday.

Get well wishes go out to Robert Greer on his recent back surgery at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. After his surgery, he spent a few days in Lloydminster with his youngest daughter Christine Greer.

Mary Vetter received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at the Unity and District Chamber of Commerce's annual Celebrate Unity event March 4.

March 18, five worthy people from Speers and Richard were honoured by receiving the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. The medals were awarded at the Seniors' Centre in Speers.

Well it has been a week of snow and blow! It has been a few years since the highways to Spiritwood and to North Battleford have both been closed. The brunt of the storm was on March 20 and continued March 21.

Vehicles lined the streets surrounding McLurg High School March 24 as approximately 400 guests flocked into the school gym to watch the Wilkie School of Dance's 20th annual dance recital.
