In the Community

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We have much to be thankful for at this time. Students will be enjoying a day off. Residences in the village have been changing hands. There are no vacancies in the village at present.

I have recently joined the team at the Allen Sapp Gallery and the Chapel Gallery as the curator/manager of galleries.

Everything is quieter in the countryside now that harvesting is nearing completion. Very few fields are yet to be done.

Towering above the landscape, a beacon for prairie travellers, the grain elevator has come to symbolize the settlement of the Canadian West in the early years of the 20th century.

Betty and Stuart Hanson of Deslisle were to see Milt and Lil McMillan on their way to their cabin at Uncha Lake, B.C. Bradie Reeds of Lloydminster stopped in to visit Grandma and Grandpa McMillan.

At 97, she's the eldest of her many sisters in the Battlefords who have found being a part of the international women's sorority Beta Sigma Phi enriches their lives.

Are you itching for Halloween yet? Costumes and decorations are already in the stores so you had better move fast this year because the Children's Wish Foundation North Battleford is holding their 3rd annual "Wishmaker Walk for Wishes" Oct. 13.

Well there are still some folks trying to get their harvest completed so we will continue to hope and pray for the weather to co-operate through to their completion of this important task at this time of year.

About six years ago this association at the direction of its 8,000 members embarked on a road not trodden previously, at least not by the members of this association.

The harvest season is upon us and this means lots of hard work and dedication. Long hours from sun-up to sundown are spent harvesting food for all of us to eat and enjoy.
