Edam Library has a surplus of children's books looking for a good home.

Oct. 17 - 24 was Saskatchewan Library Week!

To celebrate, many regional libraries hosted events. Edam, for example, offered free home made doughnuts and gourmet coffee to visiting patrons Oct. 19, in conjunction with a book sale.

"It went fairly well," says the local librarian. "We sold lots of hardcover fiction."

That wasn't surprising, considering most of the books were once-read best-selling authors and sold for 10 cents a copy.

"But," she adds "we didn't sell many children's books."

Evidently, Edam Library has a surplus of these books they cannot give away.

The librarian will try to find homes for these great reads through local advertising (posters, school newsletter, and word of mouth), with the hopes these books (some of which are classics) can be enjoyed some more by children and parents alike.
