Contest to benefit Saskatoon Food Bank

Last week was a full week of indoor recesses and the gym was a very busy area. Luckily, the buses were able to run all week so students were able to attend classes.

The elementary students are just finishing ringette in their noon hour intramurals. There have been some very close games. Following ringette, the teams will be participating in a round of mini-basketball.

The basketball teams played away this week. They ventured to Luseland Monday and Kerrobert Tuesday. There is a junior and senior boys’ team this year.

The Me to We group is organizing a contest to raise canned food items for the Saskatoon Food Bank. The contest will run from Jan. 19 until Feb. 9. All grades are invited to participate. The objective of the contest is for staff and students to collect cans of food. The classroom that collects the most cans will receive a prize Feb. 13. This is a great opportunity for staff, students and community members to give back to others in need.

The SCC meeting scheduled for last Thursday evening was cancelled due to the blustery cold weather.

The SLC held a week of creative competition this past week. Students and staff could sign up on a team. The teams were made up of six members. The events included a lip sync battle, snow fort building, an interpretive dance competition, poetry reading and a paper snowflake making contest. The competition was held during the noon hour breaks.

Anna Kunz, a representative from the Heart and Stroke Foundation, came to the school Tuesday morning. She presented information about heart health and played some games with students. This presentation was a kick-off to Jump Rope For Heart. The skipping will take place on the afternoon of Feb. 12.

Students were given pledge sheets to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The school participates in this program every two years.

The staff would like to wish colleague Sandra Large a very happy 50th birthday on Jan. 14.

The SLC will be having a soup and bun sale Jan. 23. This will also be Moustache Day!
