The brand new exhibition at the Allen Sapp Gallery is a showcase of the importance of the collection and preparation of food. Peh Mitchisook (Come and Eat) is a collection of Allen Sapp paintings that relate to activities around the creation and enjoyment of a meal. Each image is a chronicle of the effort involved in feeding a family during the time of Allen's childhood.

The paintings were created in a time span from the 1960s through to 2011 and some have never before been exhibited. Allen's paintings always evoke a sense of time and place, as seen through his eyes. These pieces demonstrate his use of colour and light to depict a specific moment in time.

Each piece also gives the viewer a sense of the story behind that particular moment - the many hands that would be involved for hunting, gathering, harvesting, preparing and enjoying food. Peh Mitchisook is on now at the Allen Sapp Gallery.

The Allen Sapp Gallery is located at 1 Railway Avenue East. For more information please contact the gallery at 445-1760. The gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Support is provided by the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the City of North Battleford.
