The John Paul II cheerleading team is heading into the spring competition season with their new routine.

Coach Lesia Rathje held a choreography camp weekend Jan. 10-11. The team prepared their two-minute and 30-second routine full of stunting, dance, jumps and tumbling.

The Warman Cheer Classic Competition Feb. 27-28 is the season opener for the team. The team will also compete at the Saskatchewan Cheerleading Association Provincials competition hosted by Moose Jaw. Anyone who attended the SCA Provincials event held at the NationsWEST Field House in North Battleford last year knows what that level of competition looks like.

Rathje said she was pleased with the results of this past weekend.

"This team has a great attitude. These are students who deserve recognition for the hard work they do and for their amazing athletic skills,” she said.

“I know they are committed to practising hard to hit this routine and make their hometown proud."
