Library hosts Lakeland Summer Players

The Borden Library summer activities program, with co-ordinator Kandice Walker and helpers Graham Sargent and Nikita Pascoe, hosted the Lakeland Summer Players from North Battleford July 18. Emily Jackson and Emma-Leigh Gerlinsky, drama students from NB Comprehensive High School, entertained the 23 kids and parents with skits, a puppet show, action songs and more. The library served drinks and cookies after the performance.

The Wednesday program, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., continues until Aug. 15; then the library will have a windup fundraiser with a wiener roast at 5:30 p.m. and bingo at 6:30 p.m., at the Borden sports grounds. For more info, call Dianne Sylvester at the library during open hours.

Borden recreation board and Rivers West District mobile playground had their first session July 17, in the community centre, with the theme Fantasy Kingdom. Register your children 5 - 11 years by July 27 for the Aug. 7 Science Fair theme and by Aug. 3 for the On the Farm theme. There is no charge for these programs and there are fun crafts, activities and games from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Borden Memorial Park, weather permitting. You need to bring a snack and bagged lunch with water provided. There is a minimum of 10 children and no drop-ins. You have to pre-register with Ferne at 997-2260 or email parks.rec@bordensask.ca.

The Borden 4-H Light Horse Club members attended a clinic July 21 at Grandora to learn about showmanship and grooming as they prepare for their Achievement Day, Aug. 14, at the Borden sports grounds. Classes open to the public at 1 p.m.
