Alien Invasion is the centrepiece of a village beautification project focussed on an area beside the Paynton arena.

Paynton volunteers, including the Paynton Farmers' Market and library ladies, were hard at work Tuesday making pizzas for fundraising.

It is a project started last year by Amy Steiger and volunteers to beautify the site next to the arena in the village. Beside the arena is a space ship sculpture, Alien Invasion, donated by Reartcycle to the village at the 2010 sculpture symposium. Under the UFO is where a five-part crop circle inspired flower bed will be created. Along with flowers and shrubs, there will be smaller sculptures made by Paynton artist Mariann Taubensee.

The beginnings of the first circle werecarved out of the ground last summerwith plans to pour a concrete footing as soon as enough money is raised.

Pizza will be available at the Spring Craft Sale, this year hosted by the Paynton Library. The sale will be at Paynton Gym from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2 and the library ladies are serving lunch.
