It is with great sadness we hear of the passing of Rita (McGill) Lutz of Winnipeg, Man. Rita was the daughter of the late Earl and Jean McGill of Battleford. She was born, raised and went to school in Battleford before she met and married Erwin Lutz and moved away from the area.

Visiting with Stanley and Dorothy Mills were Kay Robertson and her brother-in-law Clatyon Robertson of Bjelde Creek.

Stanley Mills picked up Ivan Towiss of Perdue and they took in the annual snow plane rally at Davidson. In spite of a slightly stormy, windy day, six snow planes from that area took in the rally Jan. 23. The next rally was held Feb. 13 at Buffalo Pound Lake and on the same day another rally was held at Margo. The weather was a little milder for those events. No one from this area attended either one.

Sympathy to the Domes families of Lizard Lake and Biggar areas on the recent passing of Donnie Domes Feb. 11 at the age of 59. In past years, Donnie and Barb and family were involved and active with the Baljennie Multiple 4-H Club beef project. Donnie also raised his own Charolais prize bulls and other breeding livestock. He also ran a mixed family farm and raised a family of one son and two daughters, who all live close by. The funeral was held in Biggar United Church Feb. 15. Burial was at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Donnie put up a brave battle with cancer. He will certainly be missed by all his family and friends.

Our winter is swiftly passing by. The groundhog would have seen his shadow in our area, but whatever it all means we all know darn well we will have winter around a for a good two months or more. It has been a real rollercoaster system all winter long with cold, snowy and stormy days followed by mild, up to melting temperatures for a few days. With the melting snow we have had in our area the snow has settled. A little more snow would be welcome as we have not had too much all winter. There will be no fear of spring floods. It's nice to see the sloughs and dugouts fill up for a summer supply of water.
