Raccoons a common sight

Raccoons are becoming a common sight in this area and, although they are "cute" animals, they can become a nuisance, as they like to eat cat and dog food and make their homes in granaries and unused buildings.

Each raccoon has a home range of about 200 acres and as their population increases they spread so they each have a home range. Their population does increase quickly as they have one to seven babies.

Raccoons can be a serious problem if they break into chicken houses. They love chicken. They can also do extensive damage in gardens.

Neighbours and friends in Forest Bank gathered at the community centre for a potluck supper, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Everyone enjoyed the social time that followed the supper. Thank you to those who worked to make the evening enjoyable.
