Royal parade puts on a great show

Everyone loves a parade, and Battleford's annual event, that had a royal theme this year, drew out the crowds on a perfect summer evening Friday. The Town of Battleford Recreation Department has released the winners of this year's parade categories.

Everyone loves a parade, and Battleford's annual event, that had a royal theme this year, drew out the crowds on a perfect summer evening Friday.

The Town of Battleford Recreation Department has released the winners of this year's parade categories.

In the auto - classic division Pat Hutchinson took first with his 1964 Pontiac and second with his 1958 Olds. Realty Solutions' entry was awarded third.

Busted Knuckle Antique Tractors placed first in the auto - antique category.

In the commercial category, Eiling Kramer Campground and Innovation Credit Union took first and second among local entries, with Gold Eagle Casino, Battlefords and District Co-op and Great Canadian Oil Change earning the top three spots among non-local entries.

Saskatchewan Hospital, BATC and Battlefords Ag. Society were the top three among non-local, non-commercial entries. The local non-commercial top entries were the Battlefords Humane Society and the Red Hat Society.

In the horse - wagon/buggy category Sun Leigh Miniatures, Main Line and Casper Sack had top entries, with Swift Mount 4-H Club winning in the horses - riders category.

The provincial/national category was topped by Fort Battleford and the Western Development Museum.

In the youth category, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Playtime Co-operative Childcare and the Tot Lot entries scored as the top three.
