It's that time of year. Santa has confirmed he will be in North Battleford Nov. 23 and has asked the children of the Battlefords to join him for a parade to mark the occasion.
The Battlefords Boys and Girls Club, City of North Battleford and Downtown North Battleford are planning the Fourth Annual Downtown Christmas Parade, to be held that day.
"This is our opportunity to give an event back to the community as a 'thank-you' for all of the generous support we get all year from the individuals and organizations in the Battlefords," says Sheri Woolridge, executive director of the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club. "It is free to register and free to participate."
Any business, group or organization in the Battlefords can enter the parade. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, Nov. 20 and entry forms/entry details can be downloaded on the homepage of www.cityofnb.ca. The route will cover 100th Street, 101st Street and 102nd Street in the downtown area.
Downtown North Battleford is encouraging downtown businesses to open their doors and decorate their store fronts to match the festive ambiance of the floats along the parade route, and also for the Winter Festival preceeding the parade.
"A Winter Festival will take place starting at 2 p.m. with the parade beginning at 4 p.m. So far, we have confirmed the festival will include marshmallow roasting, hot chocolate and street hockey - all taking place prior to the parade," says business improvement district executive director Lisa McEachern. The Festival will take place at 11th Avenue and 102nd Street.
