The Ministry of Highways gave the school some dirt to fix up the in need soccer field. Teacher Ryan Nickel is a teacher who is coaching one of the soccer teams. He was trying to get the school soccer field into shape for the students. There was no way of getting the dirt to the school until some local farmers, made up of dads and grandpas, pitched in, donating their time, equipment and fuel to help get the job done. A big thank you to each of you.

Ruddell had a potluck supper and craft sale Nov. 15. As usual the potluck supper was suburb. Someone had asked me what a potluck supper was the other day; guess they never heard of it before. Definition: a gathering of people where each person or group of people contributes a dish of food, prepared by the person or the group of people, to be shared among the group. (Now you know the rest of the story).

Ruddell will be having their Christmas supper Dec. 19, which will also be potluck. Come out and join the community for this fun event.

Maymont seniors are having their potluck supper Nov. 29. Everyone is welcome.

The Maymont seniors' Christmas dinner will be Dec. 12 at the Maymont Hotel.

'Tis the season. Here's a few shopping tips to remember while Christmas shopping.

Have a budget. You can always start by saving a small amount every month. Decide on your Christmas list. Some people only shop for close family and friends but others shop for co-workers, the postal worker, the dog walker, hairdresser and more. Decide on what you are comfortable with.

Listen for clues and brainstorm ideas. Have a rough idea of what presents would please the people on your list. Listen to the person or other people for ideas.

Christmas shopping can also start Dec. 26; that's when I start my Christmas shopping. Expensive gifts at 70 per cent off - what more could you ask for? Also check out sales throughout the year; there's always a sale somewhere. Make sure you have a shopping plan. Put aside a weekend that you're just going to Christmas shop. That works for me. Keep track of presents. Don't buy at the beginning of the year and forget what you have or who you got it for. Make a list and cross people's names off as soon as you have purchased something for them.

Look for an update soon on the fundraiser held in Perdue last weekend for Karen Fertuck.
