Six students from Marsden Jubilee School, in two age categories, began cross-country running this fall. They were in the under 12 peewees and in the over 12 bantams. The peewee group ran a two kilometre course and all were able to run in under 13 minutes at Lloydminster. The bantam girls ran a three kilometre course in under 15 minutes.
The Northwest School Division District Championship was held in Meadow Lake Oct. 3. This was a steep hilly run. All runners ran their course in under 20 minutes. Good job, runners!
The fall supper was a huge success. Thanks to all who came to support this venture and the many food donations from the community of Marsden, a total of $2,060 was raised. These funds will be put towards new school resources and field trips. Thank you for helping our little school with these important things.
The annual Terry Fox barbecue and walk raised $964.30 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
During Library Week each grade went to the library to sign out books and students participated in a variety of activities and enjoyed a snack. Thanks to Lakeland Library for putting on a fantastic week.
Education Week was held from Oct. 21 through 25. The theme was Celebrate Success. Marsden Jubilee wanted to celebrate the future and so Wednesday the students dressed up in their potential "career" outfits. Each student thought about what they saw in their futures and dressed accordingly. It was great to see how the students saw themselves in the future.
A fundraiser is currently underway for Knitwits. This will conclude Nov. 15.
Picture retakes will be held at Neilburg Composite School Nov. 8. Parents from Marsden wanting retakes will have to transport their children to Neilburg for the photographs.
Interns, Miss MacKay and Miss Baker, will be starting a Christmas Craft Club and a Cooking Club around the middle of November. All kindergarten to Grade 6 students are welcome to join these clubs which will take place once per week over the lunch time.
The kindergarten class is in need of two large appliance boxes. If you have some, please contact the school.
Report cards will be sent home Nov. 15. Kindergarten students will not receive report cards until January and then again in June. All students will have parent/teacher interviews Nov. 18 and 21.
Gymnastic classes are about to begin Thursday evenings at Marsden Jubilee School. Joline Houk will be the instructor for three different levels: ages 3 to 5, ages 6 through 8 and age 9 and over. Registration will be held Nov. 14. Contact Joline for further information.
