Our very first wintery day, Nov. 3 was the scheduled day for Waseca's annual fall supper. Due to the heavy snowfall and high winds, the committee decided to postpone it till next Sunday, Nov. 10 - same place, Waseca Hall, and same time, 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Local school buses did not go out Monday, Nov. 4, because of the treacherous road conditions. There had been some accidents on the highway Sunday and traffic had been held up.
A potluck supper and Halloween party was held at the skating rink Halloween evening. Parents could bring their treats to the party and have them given to the children there.
Clearing snow from the village streets was to begin Nov. 4 if the snow and wind let up.
Do you remember when information about coming events, postponements of events and even funerals were made known to residents of the area by a "long ring," which could be heard by all. It would summon people to their phones where the message about the event was given to everyone. Think about the committee who postponed the Waseca fall supper. They had to make numerous phone calls. There were some good things about the old days.
Visiting with Arlee Lumgair during the past week were her brother, Jim Dolittle and his wife Dolores from Flaxcombe. They had a busy week doing some house renovations.
