From the Tisdale Recorder files, Aug. 9, 1978

ARBORFIELD — The Town of Arborfield celebrated its golden jubilee, its 50th anniversary, with a parade on the weekend on Aug. 5 and 6, 1978.

Alvin Alyea, Arborfield’s mayor, described the anniversary celebration as a “terrific success” and added that he was “really pleased” to see for Arborfield residents return from as far away as Vancouver Island, the United States and Ontario.

More than 300 adults attended the pancake breakfast and a like number was in attendance at the street steak barbeque. Alyea said that more than 60 units, including many horses and riders participated in the parade.
