Unity resident and long-time dog owner, breeder and trainer Cindy Blanchette, formerly of Maidstone, is choosing a unique but appropriate venue to launch her first book, Doully Tales: If you've ever loved a dog.

Unity resident and long-time dog owner, breeder and trainer Cindy Blanchette, formerly of Maidstone, is choosing a unique but appropriate venue to launch her first book, Doully Tales: If you've ever loved a dog. The book launch will take place at the Saskatoon Dog Show, Prairieland Park, Saskatoon, May 4.

Doully Tales: If you've ever loved a dog is the "autobiography" of an Australian shepherd formerly owned by Blanchette. Doully tried it all: the conformation show ring, obedience, herding, search and rescue and more. Readers will laugh at his antics and sympathize with his owner's frustrations. Blanchette says, "Doully was the kind of dog that had so much personality, so much expression and you could read by this expression just what he was thinking. He was the kind of dog that you never knew what he'd do next."

Although she has retired from the show ring, Blanchette is still very involved with dogs. As well as teaching obedience classes and working at a vet clinic, she also runs Here or There Pet Services.

Blanchette will be at the Saskatoon Dog Show all day Friday, May 4 to answer questions and sign books. Doully Tales will also be available at the dog show trade fair all day Saturday and Sunday morning.

The book is available in Maidstone at Curl Up and Dye/Petal Pushers, in Battleford at Pleasantview Grooming and in Unity at Our Drug Store and the vet clinic.
