Paynton Farmers' Market Co-op has enjoyed a bountiful season. One more market, the Christmas Craft Sale, will be held to round out the season's activities.

The Paynton fire department was called out Sept. 22 at 11:30 p.m. to a vehicle fire. What appears to be a stolen truck had been driven through a barbed wire fence and set on fire. The police are looking into who the truck belongs to and, of course, how it got there. Even in our quiet little village, it is still important to lock your vehicles and homes, as crime lives everywhere.

Paynton artists Mariann Taubensee and Ellery Russell along with the rest of The ReArtCycle Group Inc. are putting on a steak night and auction at Mulberries in Saskatoon this coming Nov. 4. Not only is it a great opportunity to support the non-profit group and the arts but you also get a great steak or chicken meal with all the fixings for a reasonable price. A silent auction of the artists' smaller works, along with other donated items, make great gifts just in time for the holiday season.

The Paynton schoolyard and the village as a whole are looking better bit by bit after the plow winds July 18. The RM staff, along with volunteers, have been cleaning up the village with dump trucks, tractors, lots of muscle and a chipper. The ball diamonds, which were full of wood and debris, are starting to look a little less like a disaster zone. The Village of Paynton has applied for and received disaster relief status for the plow winds and heavy rain. Paperwork to apply for disaster relief (to cover what insurance will not) is available at the village office for anyone who needs it.

Paynton Farmers' Market Co-op has wrapped activities up at the arena for another season. The regulars were a great support to the market over the summer as were the many out of town visitors, who came from all over the country, from as close as Edam to as far away as Vancouver. If you missed out, don't despair, there is one more market day this year. The Christmas Craft Sale will be held at the Paynton Gym and all vendors are welcome. From home baked goodiestohome based businesses, the Christmas show is always a great place to findgifts and treats along with a delicious lunch made by the library ladies.
