Waterfowl flocks still heading south

Although high winds have blown many of the leaves off the trees, the fall colours are still there making it a beautiful weekend to be outdoors and to travel.

Although many birds have left us for the south, there are still flocks of geese travelling overhead. Our winter birds are enjoying themselves. This week, I have had chickadees and slate grey juncos bathing in a puddle on the driveway.

The garden flowers are mostly finished for the year. Some lupins, pansies and bachelor buttons are still blooming.

There were many family gatherings in the district for the Thanksgiving weekend. Lynn and Murray Blyth hosted a family gathering on Thanksgiving Sunday.

We are pleased to know Florence Pike is recovering from a bout of pneumonia. She has spent the greater part of the last few weeks resting. On Thanksgiving Sunday she had many visitors including Wayne and Jane Pike of Meadow Lake and their three granddaughters, Kelsey, Mya and Alisa Weber. The children's mother, Vanessa Weber, also arrived with the youngest of the Weber children, Delanie.

Darran and Nichole Blyth and family spent Thanksgiving weekend in Edmonton visiting with Nichole's family there.

Terry and René Pike travelled to Fort McMurray on the weekend to spend Thanksgiving with their daughter, Rheanan, husband Brad Beesley and their children, Jessie and Addison.
