A regular meeting of the River's Edge Quilt Guild was held at 1 p.m Oct. 7 in the craft room of the Don Ross Centre.

September proved to be a busy month for many guild members. Carol Johnson guided five participants in a beginner quilting program that was well received. These projects will be complete in the near future.

Other members became "friends of the animal shelter" by quilting an interesting array of cat and dog blankets.

A spiral table runner class was instructed by Pat Downie, and Jeanine Ferguson shared many helpful hints and instructed "Mile a Minute."

Members of REQ continue to mentor students of John Paul II home economics class in the art of quilt making. They help the students select fabric and other supplies, they cut the fabric and assemble kits so students can being to sew early in the school year. Weekly mentorship continues for the first semester of the year.

The show and tell portion of the meetings are always an interesting display of items as unique as the artists themselves.

Many exciting projects are planned for the near future.

Please remember, new members are welcome and encouraged to join. For information call Irene at 937-3551 or Barb at 445-0486. We stitch together fabric and friendships.

The next meeting is Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. in the craft room of the Don Ross Centre.
