North Battleford’s Carnegie Library was built in 1916 and was officially opened on March 1, 1917. As one of our city’s oldest buildings, the original library was built entirely from a $15,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation in New York.

Joyce Orchard, Borden’s postmaster for the past 14 years, retired as of July 16. Cake and beverages were served at the post office July 14. Replacing her is Dianne Sylvester, who will be Borden’s new postmaster.

Weekends are quieter than usual around the village. Many people spend weekend time at lakes or just away camping. The village office will be closed for the next two weeks, from July 20 to Aug.

A few nice rains along with cooler weather have been enjoyed. The rain came in good time. One can see the difference in crops and gardens. We were very fortunate as many parts of the province and elsewhere are still very dry.
