In the Community

The recreation board of the RM of Glenside held the first meeting of a new season Sept. 8 at the home of Dorothy Mills.

The Battlefords Community Players will be offering more shows and more nights for the public to enjoy in their 2014-15 season of live theatre productions.

Along with nine brother and sisters, I was born and raised at Oxbow. After graduating from high school I went to Winnipeg, Man. where I obtained my RN certification. During my first posting back home in Oxbow, I met and married my husband Ed.

Hafford was very busy this past summer with the Canada Day celebrations, Summer Sizzler, Jaws of Life, the beginning of football and of course harvest season.

The cement base and plumbing have been installed for new showers and bathrooms, in the Meota Regional Park. This will be a welcome addition for campers and make the area more appealing than ever.

The nice weather that prevailed the week of Sept. 15 was a big help to farmers getting those crops off for this year's harvest. Let's hope the good weather and great harvest continues. St.

It is good to be experiencing real harvest weather this week. Last week the weather was unpredictable with light showers nearly every day which slowed down harvesting. If the present weather continues, some people will finish their harvest this week.

A few new houses are being built and a couple of houses are being moved into Waseca. Also some new lots will soon be serviced and ready for use. Crystal and Mark Thomarat travelled to Medicine Hat, Alta.

Cards were cancelled Sept. 8 due the funeral of Vernie Carson, a long-time resident of the Maidstone area. Bingo was held Sept. 10 with volunteer callers Bev Stewart and Jean Hartman. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Harmel. Cribbage was played Sept.

The first day of school found the staff of H. Hardcastle School welcoming back the students for another year. As usual, there was an assembly where the SRC welcomed the students, and sports teams were signed up for.
