I say this often in my columns but how on earth did it get to this time already? October - I just can't believe we're into October! I, for one, am hoping for a prolonged beautiful fall like we've been experiencing will continue.

As I drove into town last Thursday morning, I was following a truck with a driver that was definitely being distracted by something besides driving, as he wandered around in his lane, often driving on the ripple edge.

A potluck supper and jam session was held Sept. 25 at the Maymont Seniors' Hall. Entertainment was provided by Russ Fountain, Mel Deagnon, Tom Caldwell and Bert Carpentier. There was great food, entertainment and fellowship.

MonkeyJunk, one of Canada's top blues bands, entertained at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts in North Battleford Wednesday.

Waseca's second annual Culture Day Sept. 27 proved to be a success. Because of the very cool and cloudy weather, the crowd was not as large and some of the activities which had been planned for outdoors were held inside.

Eighty relatives of the Custer family gathered at Ed and Sandra Rayner's home at Metinota, Sept. 6. The weather was at its best for the day.

I grew up on a small farm in the Kinistino district. I was the youngest of three children and always enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of the prairie landscape. I graduated high school and worked as a nurse's aide at the hospital at home.

One of Canada's top Ukrainian dance companies will be in North Battleford Sunday, Oct. 5 for a performance at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts.
