Livelong under boil water advisory following routine cleaning

LIVELONG — The hamlet of Livelong is under a precautionary drinking water advisory as of the morning of June 12. This advisory is for the entire community and for any individuals who may access water from the hamlet of Livelong water system. This advisory is in effect until further notice.

The cause for the advisory is from routine cleaning of the hamlet's cistern, which involves turning off the water supply and depressurizing the water lines, the hamlet said. Cleaning of the cistern happens every five years. 

For residents to safely consume water, the following instructions have been provided:

  • Boil water for at least 1 minute prior to use.
  • This includes for drinking purposes, washing of fruits and vegetables and brushing teeth.
  • Do not drink from any public drinking fountains supplied with water from the public water supply.
  • Use an alternative water source known to be safe.
  • Listen for updates on the situation.
