People visiting the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery (HDMG) will be treated to a youthful art display.
The St. Peter's College annual Student Art Exhibit is up at HDMG February 27 to March 27.
Professor Grant McConnell said this is about the eighth year new artists from St. Peter's College have had the opportunity to participate in the exhibit, put together by himself and fellow professor Jacob Semko.
When the exhibit started, the museum staff "thought it was a great idea for them to come out here and work in conjunction to get their artwork shown to more people," said Brenda Duerr of HDMG.
"We've always had the local artist showcase in the back here... and it was just something else to look forward to, to get more artists known in the area."
This year, the exhibit has about 30 pieces of student art.
"It is the largest amount shown to date," said McConnell.
The works showcased in the exhibit include original paintings, drawings and wood cut prints.
"Each student from drawing and painting (classes) had the opportunity to select their best pieces," said Semko. "McConnell and (I) then narrowed down the selection."
Both sides of the collaboration enjoy the opportunity to work with one another.
"Brenda (Duerr) and Jennifer (Hoesgen) at the Humboldt museum did a fantastic job in organizing and displaying the art," said Semko.
McConnell and Semko believe the exhibit is a great opportunity for the students and hope the collaboration between the museum and college will continue in the future.
"It's like gold for the students," said McConnell. "It gives students a great opportunity to get their work out in public and be seen by a larger audience."
