The City of North Battleford has announced that its long-awaited 100th Street rehabilitation project from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue will begin July 13th.
Work is expected to go on until early October.
Residents and business owners can expect traffic and access disruptions as well as water service disruptions in the area. The City is pledging that all efforts will be made by them and their contractors to ensure the impact is minimized. Motorists are advised to use caution when driving through construction zones and urged to respect the safety of workers.
The following is a schedule of activities and impacts anticipated to take place. The work is dependent on weather and other factors.
From July 13 to July 20 surface milling is to occur on 100th Street from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue. This requires temporary closure of blocks of 100th Street and is expected to progress at around one block a day.
The surface of 100th Street will be left with some rough surface and bumpy areas. This surface will be present until underground utility work is done and patched.
Top lift paving is to be finished late September, but some blocks may be done earlier depending on how underground work progresses.
From July 13 to July 20, underground spot repairs take place on 100th Street from 14th Avenue to 15th Avenue. This involves lane closures and possible water service disruptions.
From July 20 to Aug. 9, full water main replacement take places on 100th Street from 15th to 16th Avenue. Residences and businesses will be issued precautionary boil water advisories and will need to have temporary water supplies connected. The city will be in contact with these properties to arrange for temporary water connections. Also, 100th Street will be closed from 15th Aveune to 16th Avenue.
From Aug. 9 to 16, underground spot repairs take place on 100th Street from 16th Avenue to 17th Avenue. Lane and road closures and possible water service disruptions are to be expected.
