Eighteen drivers from five different tracks and two different provinces battled it out at the Tisdale Motor Speedway.
During Round 3 of the season, on July 22, the out-of-town drivers from Regina and Swan River were quick to learn that this Tisdale track can chew a car up, and spit it out as the clay and dirt surface had changed from lap to lap.
The ffternoon started with the TJ’s Pizza Dash for a Pizza, with 15-year-old Austin Ashdown taking home the prize for the Hobby Racing Series and Dustin Randell winning in the Street Stock Series.
The 10 Lap heat race for the Thunder Series saw Austin Ashdown's #99 taking the win over Yorkton, Saskatchewan’s Marty Sharp ( #70), and Jenn Atkings' #44 of third place. The Street Stock series was broken in to two groups due to the large car count. In Heat “1-A”, Dustin Randell's #8 pulled off another victory, with Ashley Ashdown's # 9 of in second, and Glenn Randall's #3 in third. Heat “1-B” saw Ryan Atkings' #44 taking the checkered flag, followed by Swift Current’s Trevor Monk in the #88, and Weyburn’s Rod Pickering in the #41.
Heat 2 in the Hobbys saw Jenn Atkings' #44 winning over Marty Sharp's #70 of Yorkton, and Austin Ashdown's #99. In the Street Stock Heat “2-A” event, it wasRyan Atkings' #44 victorious, Trevor Monk's #88 in second place, followed by Dustin Randell's #8. Heat “2-B” was very kind for the out-of-town guests, as Darin Bednarski's #27 Mopar from Swan River, Man. receiving the checkered flag, Casey Randell's #07 taking second, and Regina’s Alvin Dubé in the #3N in third place.
The 20 lap Feature Race for Hobby Stock was an eye-opener for the guys, as the checkered flag came out, it was Jenn Atkings' #44 defending off Yorkton’s Denise Sharp in the #76. The Street Stock Feature Race was a handful, as drivers were leading the race, finding out the the track conditions were quickly changing, and being caught off guard as they were spinning out in the corners. With a lap and a half to go for the finish, it was Trevor Monk's #88 waving bye, bye to Ryan Atkings for the win, and Casey Randell's #07 in second place.
