TISDALE — Tisdale council approved a plan to distribute almost $80,000 worth of donations given to local first responders due to the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

“There were lots of companies or individuals that donated money to help support the first responders after the events,” said Hvidston, who confirmed with The Recorder the money was aimed at them and not the hockey team itself.

The funds were distributed to the wishes of the donors. From the money donated:

  • $50,000 will go into a joint first responders fund;
  • $25,000 will go into the Tisdale Fire Department General Fund; and
  • $3,700 will go towards projects to help the Tisdale firefighters improve individually.

From the joint first responders fund:

  • $19,000 will go towards the Tisdale Fire Department;
  • $12,000 to the Zenon Park Fire Department;
  • $5,800 to the Tisdale Healthcare Auxiliary;
  • $5,000 to Tisdale Ambulance Care;
  • $4,000 to victim services;
  • $3,500 to the Tisdale RCMP; and
  • $300 each to the Melfort and Nipawin Fire Departments.
