There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on September 24, bringing the total to 1,835 reported cases. The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (2), Central West (1), Regina (1) and South Central (1) zones.

A Meadow Lake woman pleaded guilty to weapons offences, robbery, mischief and obstruction of a peace officer. Monica Bouvier, 24, is now scheduled to be sentenced in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Sept. 28.

A Pinehouse Lake man was sent to prison for 10 months on drug-related charges. Gregory Natomagan, 31, was sentenced in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept. 14. Natomagan was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

EAST CENTRAL — The provincial government has announced its annual funding for regional colleges with $24.2 million being approved for skills training at the eight Saskatchewan colleges.

A second scheduled preliminary hearing for a Sturgeon Lake man charged with manslaughter didn’t proceed. The first preliminary hearing for Ryan Kyle Daniels, 40, was scheduled for April 29-30 but was adjourned. The hearing was rescheduled to Sept.

A confirmed case of COVID-19 at the McClean Lake uranium mill in northern Saskatchewan on Sunday worried Candyce Paul, who co-ordinates English River First Nation’s emergency management team.

A trial for a Meadow Lake man facing firearms related offences was rescheduled. The case against Lennex Merasty-Morin, 31, was brought before Meadow Lake Provincial Court Sept. 14. A trial was previously scheduled for Aug. 11 but didn’t proceed.

HUMBOLDT — A city councillor is making a bid for the mayor’s chair in the upcoming civic elections. Michael Behiel has announced that he will be running for the top spot in the Monday, Nov 9. election.

From the province: Relatively warm, dry conditions this week allowed farmers to make good harvest progress. Rainfall on the weekend caused some delays but many farmers have since returned to the field.

The man who has been the director of finance on both sides of the North Saskatchewan River is now seeking the mayor’s job in North Battleford. David Gillan has officially filed papers to run for mayor this week.
