The first day of Re-Open Saskatchewan saw the largest increase in reported COVID-19 cases in the province since the pandemic began. There were 34 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Monday, the highest since the 33 cases reported on March 22.

A trial was set to start April 29 in Pelican Narrows Circuit Court for a Sandy Bay man charged with second-degree murder but it didn’t go ahead. Thomas Johnny Bernard Ross, 31, was arrested in February connection to the death of Darnell Bear, 33.

EAST CENTRAL — With July quickly approaching, the Melfort Exhibition has been cancelled. Kim Eskowich, manager of the Melfort Agricultural Society which runs the exhibition, said holding the event this summer has no longer become feasible.
