EAST CENTRAL — Since opening in late September, the North East SPCA’s (NESPCA) Harry and Eve Vickar Shelter in Melfort has helped over 50 animals find a home.

EAST CENTRAL — The Water Security Agency is predicting lower than normal runoff in east central Saskatchewan – and in most of the province. The agency released its March spring runoff outlook on March 5.

The Town of Battleford has approved a new policy to address the needs of properties that require extra garbage bins in the community.

The leaders who have signed on to the Sacichawasihc Relationship Agreement are holding a special community luncheon on April 3. The event is at the Tropical Inn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and lunch is being provided. There is no cost to attend.

On Saturday a unique interfaith forum took place at the North Battleford Public Library with a stated goal of finding peace in society. The event was called Pathway to Peace, and was put on by the Lloydminster chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at.

A longtime North Battleford air conditioning and refrigeration business has been sold to a Toronto-based company. Berg Chilling Systems Inc. has acquired J&J Air Conditioning and Refrigeration as of March 2, 2020.

HUMBOLDT — Nestor Trach doesn’t see himself as Citizen of the Year, yet that is what the 82 year old will be following this year’s Mark of Excellence Awards.

HUMBOLDT — Tianna Zimmerman wasn’t expecting to win this year’s Junior Citizen of the Year Award. Even with a winning season as a Special Olympics athlete behind her, the 18-year-old Englefeld School Grade 12 student said it is a welcome surprise.
