MAIDSTONE — The Maidstone Museum Canada Day celebration this year was a momentous occasion for the small town of Maidstone. The day was filled with activities, and there was guaranteed fun for all ages.

Nearly 60 people came to Sandwith Community Hall on June l8 to share memories and to pay tribute to the man who, no doubt, was a central figure in the community until he moved to North Battleford more than 45 years ago.

The Maidstone RCMP is reporting a week with 59 occurrences between July 3 and 9. Some of the most common calls received were related to Theft, Speeding and Erratic Drivers.

The province is moving ahead with the application process for private retail liquor store permits. They are now accepting applications for two stores in Regina and three in Saskatoon.

Providing a camp experience as well as improving reading skills for children are the goals of the summer literacy camps taking place this month and next in the Battlefords. The literacy camps are free. Start date is July 1.

Scientists and volunteers from adults to children are doing a bioblitz this weekend in order to catalog plants and wildlife and document species at risk. It’s happening at Nebo, a site 70 kmolometres west of Prince Albert.
